How to Backup Outlook 2013 Emails | Step by Step Guide

Backing up your Emails should be vital for any business large or small so read below on how to back your emails up using Microsoft Outlook 2013.

Step 1

At the top left of the Outlook 2013 window click FILE, then from the options on the left hand side of click Open & Export, finally choose Import/Export

A new window will open titled Import and Export Wizard, from the options click Export to a file and then click Next >

The next step is choose the file type that that want to save your backup as. Click Outlook Data File (.pst) and then click Next >

Choose the email account that you want to backup BUT be sure to click the full name of your email address. Now click the checkbox so there is a tick next to Include subfolders and then click Next >.

If you would like to backup more than one email address you will have to repeat this 5 step process.

The final step is to choose where you want to save your backup. Click Browse... if you prefer to save your backup away from Outlooks default folder which is located by going to Documents -> Outlook Files. By clicking Browse... you can also rename your backup to something more meaningful i.e. backup 26-06-2014. Now you have renamed your backup and chosen a place to save it (if you have) choose 1 of the 3 Options whether or not you want your backup to store duplicated emails, we use Do not export duplicate items. Finally Click Finish.

Please Note!!!

You may be asked for a password after you click Finish, if you do get asked you can type one in (that you remember) or click Cancel (if you don't want to give your backup a password). If you forget your password you'll be in trouble as you'll need it to access the backup file.
