Spam Prevention

One thing that can drive businesses crazy is the amount of spam they and their employees receive every day. Media City Way are always trying to improve their services and let businesses get on with their business.

If you host your website with Media City Way you can use our power spam filters to automatically detect and remove spam before it lands in your email inbox.

Step 1:

Visit the control panel login screen and enter the details emailed to you when we set your web hosting up for you. The link to the control panel is www.mediacityway.com/myaccount

Step 2:

Scroll down the page slightly and you will see the Junk Mail Filter Levels, there is a description of each level from Low to Extremely High, we recommend you try a level out for a week and then up it by 1 level if you are still receiving high amounts of spam.

Once you have selected your Junk Mail filter click the update button which is just above the title Reject by Sender.

Here is a description of what each spam filter means:

Low - Some junk emails will get through, but virtually no email will be incorrectly filtered out. This is an appropriate level for a business domain.

- A small number of junk emails will get through, a small amount of email (particularly newsletters and marketing messages) may get incorrectly filtered. This is appropriate for a personal domain.

- Virtually no junk emails will get through, but some email (newsletters and marketing messages) may get incorrectly filtered. This is appropriate for a personal domain that currently gets lots of junk email, but please try the "medium" setting first.

Extremely High
- Only select this if you're still seeing lots of junk mail after setting to "high". It's quite likely that several non-junk emails will be incorrectly filtered at this level.

Changes on the mail server may take up to 2 hours to propagate.
